Episode 70: Texas Winter Storms and the Failure of a Deregulated Energy Market
Available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and iHeartRadio.
In this episode, we talk about the monumental failure of the deregulated energy market in Texas, which resulted from unusual and severe winter weather. We discuss Senator Ted Cruz’s efforts to flee to Cancun and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s efforts to help Texas residents in spite of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s attempt to blame the power grid’s failure on the Green New Deal even though it has no passed yet. We also talk about the revelation that Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration made a point of not releasing data about the high amount of COVID-19 deaths in New York nursing homes and we give our thoughts on Dr. Henry Louis Gates’ new documentary ‘The Black Church: This is our Story, This is our Song.’
